Die Geschichte habe ich sicher schon hundert Mal erzählt, aber in der Schule hat mal ein Lehrer zu mir gemeint, dass ich lächerlich aussehen würde, mit meinem rosa Tutu. Da war ich vielleicht 14 Jahre alt. Zehn Jahre später, kann ich seiner unprofessionellen Meinung immer noch nichts abgewinnen. Tüll-Rocke sind für mich einfach wunderschön und sehr weiblich. Böse Zungen werden nun behaupten, dass Tüll-Röckchen an Erwachsenen peinlich sind. Aber manche von uns sind nun mal für immer Mädchen. Abgesehen davon, Carrie Bradshaw hat es in Sex and the City schließlich auch getan und sie ist und bleibt einfach eine Modeikone.

Komischerweise haben einige deiner besten Kindheitserinnerungen etwas mit Schuhen zu tun haben.  Um genauer zu sein, begann meine Obsession mit einem violetten Paar Schnür Stiefel mit Pelzbesatz von Schuhhaus-Itt in Neunkirchen. Die waren zwar nicht ganz was meine Mama im Sinn hatte, als sie meinte, dass wir Winterstiefel kaufen gehen, aber ich hatte auch als kleines Kind schon meinen eigenen Kopf. Jede Saison zogen Oma, Mama und ich los um uns ein paar neue Schuhe „beim Herr Itt“ zu holen und ich erinnere ich mich noch an jedes einzelne Paar, von glitzernden Regenbogen Schuhen im Converse Stil, über unzählige Lelli Kellys, bis hin zu hellblauen Wildleder-Mokassins. Auch heute sieht der Laden noch fast genauso aus wie früher und versetzte mich immer wieder zurück in meine Kindertage.

Itt ist einer der wenigen „alten“ Läden die in Neunkirchen überlebt haben.  Kein Wunder, denn nach wie vor führt das Schuhhaus nur qualitativ hochwertige Schuhe, die dem Fuß gut tun. Außerdem arbeiten hier noch richtige Fachverkäufer, die einen großartigen Service bieten und dabei helfen den perfekten Schuh zu finden.

Gerade letzte Woche war ich wieder dort und habe mich durch den Sale geschnuppert. Besonders angetan hat es mir dabei eine Linie von der österreichischen Schuhfirma Firma Högl. Mit Samt, Glitzer und Gold bekommt man mich einfach immer. Die Sandalen sind gerade im Sale bei Itt, aber die Sneaker gehören schon zu der Herbstkollektion.

Villeroy & Boch - Mehr als nur Geschirr

 Dass ich eine besondere Beziehung zu Klamotten habe, wissen die meisten hier sicherlich schon längst, aber über Geschirr habe ich noch nicht so oft geredet. Dabei hege ich als Saarländer natürlich eine gewisse Liebe zu einer heimischen Geschirr und Keramik Marke, die mittlerweile in der ganzen Welt berühmt ist: Villeroy & Boch. Wer mal in der Gegend ist, sollte auf jeden Fall die Showrooms im schönen Mettlach besuchen und eine Werksführung machen. Die habe ich übrigens schon in der Grundschule mitgemacht, weil ich endlich mal sehen wollte, wo unser schönes Geschirr eigentlich herkommt.

Als ich noch ganz klein war, habe ich schon bemerkt, dass es etwas ganz Besonderes sein muss, mehr als nur Geschirr. Ich sollte immer ganz, ganz vorsichtig damit sein und wehe es fiel ein Teller runter! Dann gab es so richtig Ärger. Mittlerweile verstehe ich auch wieso, denn zu diesem Geschirr gibt es eine schöne Anekdote:

 Meine Mutti hat als Kind immer Botengänge für zwei feine Damen erledigt. Das war in den 50er Jahren. Diese Damen haben sie ab und zu eingeladen zu Kaffee und Kuchen. Besonders beeindruckt war meine Mama aber nicht etwa von den Leckereien, sondern von dem schönen Geschirr: Burgenland von Villeroy & Boch. Die Damen haben sogar zwischen zwei Service gewechselt: eine Woche gab es das Geschirr in rot und die Nächste in blau. Damals wusste meine Mama schon, dass sie später auch mal genau dieses Gedeck haben möchte.

Im Jahre 1972 hatte das Warten dann schließlich ein Ende! Meine Mama hat zur Hochzeit endlich ihr Burgenland bekommen. Seitdem hegt und pflegt sie das Gedeck und wenn mal etwas zu Bruch geht, dann müssen wir eben auf dem Flohmarkt suchen – denn leider kann man es nicht mehr kaufen. Mittlerweile ist unser Burgenland wohl noch ein ganzes Stück besonderer!

Das hübsche Sieb ist natürlich nicht von Burgenland, sondern meinem Lieblings-Klassiker: Wildrose. Den wünsch ich mir später mal zur Hochzeit ;)

Fun Fact: Wusstet ihr eigentlich, dass sogar die Titanic schon mit Villeroy & Boch ausgestattet war?

Most of you already know that I have a thing for clothes, but I haven´t talked about china yet. However, I´m from an area in Germany called “Saarland” which is home to a famous crockery brand: Villeroy & Boch. If you ever happen to visit the area you definitely have to check out their showrooms and take a factory tour. The first time I visited, I was still in elementary school and I wanted to find out where our dishes are from.

Even as a child, I knew that our china must be something really special. I always had to be extra careful when using it and if I dropped one, I was in big trouble. Now I understand why, because there´s a lovely story to it:

Back in the 50s, when my mom was still a child, she used to run errands for two posh ladies. Once in a while they invited her over for tea and cakes. But my mother wasn´t too keen on the cake, instead she was more impressed with the beautiful crockery: Burgenland by Villeroy & Boch. These two ladies even switched between a blue and a red version from week to week. Back then, my mom dreamed of owning the same dishes.

In 1972, she got married to my Dad and of course, as a wedding present she received Burgenland. She loves this china ever since and handles it with exceptional care.  If a plate breaks, we need to look for a replacement in thrift stores and the like, because they production has stopped some time ago. Well, I guess our beautiful plates are even more special now.

Instaready Beach Looks

I am literally so I excited about the good weather we had over here in Germany for the past weeks, that I can´t stop dreaming of Summer and holidays by the beach. Sadly the beach is a tiny bit far from mine and I already went on two holidays this year. First I went to Italy and afterwards I went to Spain for a week. And of course it was still freezing. Well, maybe not freezing but still rather cold and I couldn’t enjoy the beach as much as I thought I would.

Anyways, I´m already dreaming of my next beach holiday and this is why I decided to start browsing for more Beach outfits. When I say Beach Outfits I don’t really mean beach throws in the first place (though I did choose some for you, see more details) but more like clothes you could wear on the way to the beach. In the meantime you could get your boyfriend to take a cute photo of you for Instagram!

I´m obsessed with the Two-Pieces that Zaful has to offer because they are simply pretty. Also, whats easier than packing two pieces for the holidays, you´ll always know what to wear with that top/skirt! Apart from that, I love off the shoulder dresses because they make you look sophisticated and still somehow sexy. Especially pinstripes have been popular the past few years but of course there´s a million more options from flowers to lemons. (Yes, you heard right, I´ve seen quite a few lemon patterns around lately) If you go for a more simple dress you can definitely pair it which a large hat, lots of necklaces and maybe even a belt to get that super lovely Blogger-look!

If you like none of these you could still go for some more retro styles like fit and flare dresses. Fit an flare always works well if you are looking to achieve a glamorous fifties look. Also, you´ll definitely make a big entrance. Maybe you´re wondering how to make a great entrance at the beach but to be fair, there is no “overdressed” in the Fashionista-world. Channel your inner Lana Del Rey!

This year in Milan was the second time I had the chance to see Chanel Joan Elkayam´s collection. The 20 year old is an upcoming, young British designer who has achieved a lot in the past few years. Apart from studying at Fashion at the well-known Central Saint Martins University in London, she showcased her collections all over the world: Milan, London, New York, Paris.

Her collection A/W18 „Nona“, which she presented in Milan this year, was apparently inspired by her Jewish-Italian grandmother, who had to flew from the Nazis during WW2. Like last year, her collection is not only for but also inspired by strong women.

Her collection consisted of two major parts; one being day wear designs with unusual, over-sized  and sometimes asymmetrical cuts, while the other half consisted of stunning, long gowns straight from a fairy tale. The materials she used were an exciting mix of heavy weaved fabrics, sequins, tulle, and Swarovski crytals. „Doesn´t go together“ is what you probably think now, but think again! The designer managed to combine all of the above perfectly to an elegant homogeneous collection – all with her usual touch of vintage eleganza.

My favorite pieces from the show were definitely the tulle dresses, embellished with pearls and Swarovsky crytals. They took me straight to a glamorous Winter-Wonderland. Well, I also have to admit that glitter always gets me. You can probably guess from my photos which dress I am especially obsessed with.

This time I also have to mention the incredibly talented make-up artists and hairstylists!

Every look was on point and the highlighter of the models was shining as bright as all the dresses. The vintage hair styles really completed the overall look and were very neatly done, which is surprising if you ever had the chance to witness the hustle and bustle of a fashion show backstage. 

After the show, some of the models mixed with the crowd so I could have another look at a part of the collection and I was impressed with how much fun they had wearing the designs and posing for the camera. It means they felt comfortable and happy in what they wore which is definitely another reason to love the collection.

If you haven´t heard of Chanel Joan Elkayam yet, you should probably remember her name, because I am convinced there is much more to come. Personally, I can´t wait to see another one of her Fashion-shows soon!

Dieses Jahr hatte ich zum zweiten Mal das Glück Chanel Joan Elkayams Modenschau beizuwohnen. Die 20-Jährige ist eine vielversprechende, junge britische Designerin und hat in den letzten Jahren bereits große Erfolge feiern können. Neben ihrem Mode-Studium an der renommierten Londoner Universität Central Saint Martins, präsentierte sie ihre Kollektionen auf der ganzen Welt: Mailand, London, New York, Paris.

Ihre A/W 18 Kollektion „Nona“, welche sie in Mailand präsentierte, ist ihrer jüdisch-italienischen Großmutter gewidmet, die während des zweiten Weltkrieges vor den Nazis nach Israel floh. Genau wie ihre letzten Kollektionen ist auch diese von einer starken Frau inspiriert.

Die Kollektion bestand aus zwei Teilen; Daywear mit ungewöhnlichen, übergroßen und teilweise asymmetrischen Schnitten und im Gegensatz dazu atemberaubende, wallende Abendroben. Auch die verwendeten Materialien variierten stark zwischen schweren gewobenen Stoffen, Pailletten, Tüll und Swarovsky Kristallen. „Das passt doch nicht!“, könnte man voreilig urteilen. Allerdings gelang es der Designerin daraus eine elegante und homogene Kollektion zu kreieren, die wie immer von ihrer Liebe für Vintage gezeichnet ist.

Meine Lieblings-Teile waren definitiv die Tüll-Kleider, die mit Perlen und Kristallen bestickt waren – Perfekt für ein glamouröses Winter Wonderland. Das könnte auch daran liegen, dass ich alles liebe was glitzert. Wahrscheinlich kann man an den Bildern erkennen von welchem Kleid ich völlig besessen bin.

Neben der Designerin, machten auch die Make-up-Artists und Hairstylisten einen großartigen Job. Der Highlighter der Models strahlte ähnlich hell wie die Designs und die perfekten Vintage-Frisuren überraschten, in Anbetracht der großen Eile die Backstage bei Fashion-Shows herrscht.

Nach der Show mischten sich einige der Models unter die Menge und ich konnte noch einen letzten Blick auf die Designs erhaschen. Die Models hatten jede Menge Spaß dabei Selfies zu machen und vor der Kamera zu posen und sorgten damit dafür, dass ich die Kollektion sogar noch ein kleines bisschen mehr liebe!
