VINTAGE, ANTLERS AND JOEY D

It all starts with me and my brother having some kind of a superpower: We have the ability to find crazy designer stores. It just happens. We can´t help it. So on the first day of our Edinburgh trip, we found ourselves in front of Joey D´s store after walking about one minute. Though we actually didnt intent to go shopping we couldnt resist to have a  look around. And there it was, that feeling every fashionfanatic get´s when he sees something new which he really really really needs. His store is something like a showroom and atelier all at once. It has a slightly odd and magical feeling about it: bags made of uncommon materials like fake-grass lie around on the floor next to rough leather rests and bubble wrap. I couldn´t get enough of staring at all the crazy creations and I discovered something new every five seconds. Most of the clothes are made of tartan fabrics but don´t look like your cliché scottish skirt at all. Personally I would say that they all look a bit steampunk inspired. You won´t find anything "normal" without a rough finish and unique details. The best part is that all of the fabric is recycled and so obviously there are no items the exact same! As interesting as the clothes was the owner. We spent about an hour or more chatting about his career, life and.... chocolate. In the end I did not only give a new home to an awesome handbag but felt rich of experience!

Es fängt alles damit an, dass mein Bruder und ich so etwas wie eine Superkraft haben: Wir haben die Fähigkeit überall verrückte Designer Läden zu finden! Es passiert einfach, wir können nichts dagegen tun. An unserem ersten Tag in Edinburgh liefen wir gerade mal 2 Minuten und schon standen wir vor Joey D´s Laden. Obwohl wir ja eigentlich gar nichts kaufen wollten, konnten wir der Versuchung nicht so ganz widerstehen. Drinnen packte mich dann dieses Gefühl welches jeden Modefanatiker überkommt wenn er etwas neues sieht das er wirklich wirklich wirklich dringend braucht. Ich konnte gar nicht genug bekommen von dem magisch und seltsam anmutenden Laden-Atelier. Überall gab es etwas neues zu entdecken; auf dem Boden lagen Taschen mit Geweihen oder aus Kunstrasen neben Leder Stücken und Verpackungsmaterial. Die meisten Kleider sind aus Tartan und sowas wie eine ironische Version des klassischen Schottenrocks. Ich würde behaupten dass sie einen gewissen Hang zum Steampunk haben. Das Coolste ist allerdings das alle Materialien recycled sind und somit jedes Stück komplett einzigartig!!! Genauso einzigartig wie der Laden ist wohl auch der Verkäufer. Im Endeffekt habe ich dann noch eine Stunde mit ihm geredet über seine Karriere, das Leben und.... Schokolade! An diesem Tag konnte ich nicht nur einer Handtasche ein neues Zuhause geben, sondern wurde auch um eine Erfahrung reicher
