 When I think of the young Kate Moss I will forever remember these photos of a young, skinny and somehow bewildered looking naked girl at the beach taken by Corinne Day. Not only are they pure perfection to me but also mark the start of a great career. Kate Moss was discovered in New York in 88 and was soon to be the face of Calvin Klein, Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent and numerous other big brands. The young London girl made it to the rank of model royalty, next to Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell. But she was never as perfect as all the others, she was wild and shocked the public with drug scandals and her relationships with Johnny Depp and Pete Doherty. This is something that made her more approachable than the others, more interesting. Who wants to see just a perfect face, without flaws, without a history? It is something that has always fascinated me about her. She is not a typical model, she has funny teeth and her nose is not the nicest you might say. But her face does have that special „it“, that certain little pinch of special that lets her rise above the typical beauty ideal. She seems to be a normal person; she gets out and gets drunk like everyone else and doesn`t sit at home eating a salad pretending that models have to be super healthy and -let´s face it- super boring at all times. I mean can you imagine Naomi Campbell walking around at Glasto in dirty Hunter Boots? (Okay, Naomi had her scandals too, but throwing a phone at someone is simply uncool in every way.)
