Burlesque Night at CIRQUE Manchester

8 February 2016

Manchester is a perfect place to eat, party and simply enjoy life. There are tons of parties every single day and sometimes it´s hard to decide where to go. A few weeks ago, me and my friends left the beaten track and visited Cirque; a more exclusive and secluded gem of Manchester nightlife. Cirque is an about 5 minutes taxi drive away from the city centre and already impressed us from the outside. The round, red and black brick building is right next to a park and seems to be surrounded by a mysterious air. There is nothing that immediately gives the name of the club away which made us feel even more intrigued. It reminded me a little of Stanley Kubrick´s Eyes Wide Shut; when Bill drives to the secret location. Inside, Cirque is equally impressing; I´m talking dark wood, fireplaces, chandeliers, thick velvet curtains and leather couches. The bar, such as the main room are on the ground floor, where most of the show takes place. A narrow stairway leads past walls covered in mirrors to a private room on the second floor, where you can rent a table for an extremely reasonable price. There, you can also enjoy a part of the show that seems more private than in the main lounge. The show itself consisted of a host, leading us through the program and singing jazzy cover versions of popular songs like All about that bass, and several dancers sporting feather skirts and fur shawls. My favourite part of the show was a military themed dance that definitely reminded me of old Hollywood classics. Personally, I had a great night at Cirque and I can only recommend giving it a try if you are looking for that extra something to enhance your weekend!
